In the real world, Juniper Grace is a shy English professor by day and the author of steamy novels by night. Her unfortunate love life compels her to weave her fantasies into her stories, using friends, neighbours and former partners as her protagonists. When a new guy moves in next door, the shy writer watches him in secret as he jogs through the neighbourhood and wanders naked around his home and garden. Seeing how she is clearly smitten by this newcomer, her friends seek to unite the pair, and use her upcoming birthday party to set things in motion. Meanwhile, in her latest piece of writing, Juniper uses her own name for the main female character, a supposedly meek and uninteresting governess, who is seduced by her employer and enjoys a raunchy and explicit relationship with him and his manservant.The comparisons with her own life are easy to see, yet the differences are just as evident, particularly on the relationship front. Juniper, the professor, has clearly morphed into the governess, and ramps up the sexy shenanigans to compensate for her own lack-lustre love life. Her fantasies are constantly interrupted by her friends, who are trying to instigate a meeting between Juniper and the new guy.Their hapless efforts are both embarrassing and amusing, you can feel Juniper cringing awkwardly when she realises the full extent of their enterprise. Yet her self-consciousness and discomfort are set aside when it appears that he has understood the joke and is as keen to get to know her as she is to know him. Finally, her life is imitating her own art and we see the real Juniper about to embark in her own true life fantasy.
As the prelude to what promises to be an engaging and witty series, this first story is bang on the money. The ‘story within a story’ element shows great skill on the part of the author and the two plots run alongside each other effortlessly. A fun read that was over far too quickly, much more is expected …. please!

The Secret World of Juniper Grace is a tasty little hors d'oeuvre to entice the readers on to the next course, or in this instance, the next installment in the life of Ms. Grace. Juniper Grace has a secret. She is a professor by day and an erotic author in her spare time. She has another secret - she is completely smitten by her gorgeous next door neighbor.
Livia Ellis gives us a glimpse into the real life world of Juniper Grace as well as her secret life. I enjoyed Episode One. Livia Ellis is one of the few authors that does not weigh down your reading with too many words. She allows your own imagination to roam. Her interludes from perceived reality into a writers reality as they create are uncanny. She has captured the way authors think as they take an idea and place it on the page. Those abilities, along with the uniqueness of the story line left me wondering what would be the next episode for Juniper Grace.
Original + unique artistry = Five Stars.
This is a brilliant beginning to a very promising new serial. From the very first sentence (literally) to the very last paragraph the author captures your full attention. The writing style is simply beautiful in that the author has the ability to mold the language expertly and almost single handedly make it her own. In doing so, the story flows freely from start to finish and is laced with a perfect supply of subtle, and some not so subtle, humor that will have you laughing out loud and that’s not all you’ll find with this story!
The author delivers in all areas. You’ll meet characters that you just can’t stop thinking about, not that you’d want to stop, and every single scene described from the neighborhood to Junipers house right up to the scenes that give it the over 18 rating are able to be visualized perfectly. You can find at least one character that you can relate to and maybe you even had a friend that was like one of Junipers friends.
I won’t tell what happens in the story (you will just have to read it for yourself, you’ll get nothing out of me!) all I can safely tell you is that Juniper is a character with many secrets. Teacher, writer, and amateur spy of sorts… she does it all! I know I can’t wait to see what will happen in the episode to follow and any that will follow that one and I bet once you read this one, you won’t be able to wait either!
Juniper is a woman who lives a quite uneventful and boring life. However, hidden behind a pen name, she has a very rich, glamorous, and sexual life. Will the shy and awkward Juniper dare to live her life in a more lively and funny way? Will she dare to talk to her neighbour, the hot Thomas, who she spies from her house? At the same time that we see Juniper in her real life, we also read the fantasies that Juniper would like to live. How? We can peep at excerpts of the new book she is writing. Her female character's name is Juniper. Living the life she wishes for herself?
Don't miss this hot story. If you liked Oliver, you will love Juniper.
Juniper Grace has a double life. She's an English professor, a bit shy, and like all of us, feels a bit lacking in her everyday life. But then, she fires up her laptop and she writes. Life is much more interesting in fiction and hers is smoking hot. Her real life friends, the kind we either have or wish we did, keep day to day from being as boring as it could be, too. Livia Ellis has done it again. I started reading her 'Memoirs of Gigolo' series, and was happy to see her starting a new adventure. She did not disappoint. Funny, wry, and always well written, this story draws you in and hangs on. I know I really like a story when I'm angry it ended. Not full length novel, more like novella, and well worth the read. My biggest question is when will the next one be out?
